Default Moving on from the C5

It's official. After just over 5 years of ownership I sold my C5 last Saturday and today I received my order number for my 2017 GS/Z07 convertible R8C. It was a dependable and enjoyable car despite it's troubled history, and the CF community here is great. I just hope the folks over in the C7 section are as knowledgeable and friendly.

On Monday my C5 will be on the block getting sold to hopefully a not-too-shady dealer.

you're getting a great car, no doubt. You had trouble with your C5? I've been lucky so far with mine.

It had a rough history, all the trouble was related to previous owner(s). The C5 is a great car, mine just wasn't an exemplary one.

I am a current C5Z owner and am also looking at a new GS. I am fortunate that I will be able to keep my 03Z and am still doing mods on it but with a new plan. The 2017 seems like a close cousin to the C5Z IMO.

Congrats on the move to a C7. While I do miss my C5, the C7 is something else, an absolute blast to drive. Good luck with the new ride.

To be honest, if my C5 was a good one I might have not even thought about replacing it. It's no loss though with it's issues.

I never thought I'd be in the position to buy a new car this expensive, but you only live once, right?

Not even sure I'll be able to sleep the night before I take delivery at the NCM!

The refinement of the C7 is worlds ahead of the C5. I test drove a similar (but automatic) GS at the dealer, the build quality is like they weren't even made by the same factory!

The C5 will always be a good memory despite repairing the previous owner's hacks, etc.... It was my first Corvette. My dad had previously owned many of them (54, 68, 69, 85, 87, 95), The first two were before I was born, but I remember the last 4.

Hard decision I bet. We want to do the same thing. Order one next March for NCM delivery. Trouble is, about every other week we decide to keep the C5, then following week we switch decisions back to getting a C7.

We love our C5 and only put 18K mi on it in last 9yr. By the time I'm 78 it would only have 68K mi. on it, but it will be 23 yr old. so probably won't know till next March what we decide. Keep ours till we croak or get a new one

I would have no problem with the upgrade you made, unfortunately I'm too close to retiring to feel comfortable with taking on any debt, at least not yet, looking forward to seeing post about that new ride, congratulations

- Same here and they are different experiences for sure. Most think I'm nuts but I enjoy my C5 more at times then I do the 7 z51.
