Who still drives their C5 in the winter when there isn't bad weather?

Road grit like sandpaper
Poor visibility (concern is other drivers)
Currently only have summer tires, not interested in mounting winters/AS's
Poor traction
Expensive insurance
= no thanks.
Even though no sign of snow here yet, I'll start doing some winter projects.

I drive it until the roads become a salt sandbox, then it stays off the roads until they are clean. Don't see the point in letting it sit when it's cold out. I've had it out in freezing weather many, many times over the 8 years I've owned the ZO6...it's never had a single problem and drives fine.
Even all the horror stories about grip are over-exaggerated. I run R888's year round and this was my 3rd season on this single set (car was down most of last season to be fair), and I've had them out in below 30F weather and even those tires are still fine. Still holding 640rwhp launches at the strip and 1/2 mile events like a champ. No issues and traction is good enough still on freezing cold days where there are no concerns whatsoever.

Sure, if the weather is completely clear, no remnants of snow or ice melt on the roads, and the temp is at least 50, and I happen to be home, I'll give it a little exercise.

We pretreat our road with the salt brine/ calcium chloride mixture. Seem's to stay on the roads forever not easy to remove, also having summer tires doesn't mix well with cold temp's. I'll keep it tucked away.

In CT, drive year round unless there is fresh snow or ice on the roads. February has been rough the past couple of years here, weekly accumulation has limited the amount of road time that month. Make it a point to hit the car wash regularly for a good spray down above and below. 80k miles and counting...

I drove mine to Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, but that was the last day. Here in SE Michigan they love to prematurely throw salt on the roads, and not to mention that around this time the coal patched roads here start to break apart... again...
I would love to drive it during "good" winter days, but would probably regret that decision based on garbage roads and debris.

I could be the inventer of the DD, as early as 16 my semi new Camaro was put away in the winter. All winter would work on it to be faster than the year before. As a mechanic cars were a dime a dozen for me, buy junk, fix it up and sell it to support my habit(drag racing). One of the first head shakers with my buddies was a beautiful 68 442 with a blown engine. Didn't have a Olds engine in my stock pile so a installed a rebuilt 327 which was for my first Vette(63 roadster). So many double takes when someone would look under the hood. Always seem to own a special car that was just for pleasure !!

When I was a lot younger, I'd see C-2s and C-3s on the road "year round, but as time passed, I'd see fewer and fewer Corvettes on the road in the winter. If for no other reason than limited ground clearance will get you hung up in even moderate snow, and the issues road salt can create in the electronics system, why chance it? Secondly, the snow tire availability is extremely limited in Corvette sizes, and wide tires aren't worth a damn, in snow, anyway.
I simply park mine, and drive a 4-wheeler in the winter.....

Drive mine all year now that we've moved from communist New York to the USA. (Florida). But when we lived up north, it went into the garage when the salt hit the roads for the first time and stayed there until Spring AND after the first HARD rain that washed the salt off of the roads.
SOOOOOOOO glad we moved!

I never put it completely away for the winter. If there is a nice sunny day and the roads are clear of salt and gravel, I'll get it out.

way too much salt and brine solution used here in wi., they spray the overpass and underpass even when the sun is shining. and that brine is really corrosive, I have a malibu dd that's rusting, haven't had rust on cars for years until they started using that crap.

The C5 is a sports car and was not intended to be driven in snow, ice or on salt covered roads. Of course you could do it, but I would never buy one that had been. Driving on clean, dry roads in the winter is not a problem.

The problem here in the Midwest is the salt they put on the roads, and unless it gets warm enough to rain (and rain hard), that salt stays on the roads until it does rain. There's no way in he11 I'd drive a C5 on salted roads. That stuff gets into every little nook and cranny and is impossible to wash completely off...then corrosion sets in....my C5 will be treated the same way I treat my motorcycle in that it comes out only on salt-free roads, with the exception of driving it in the rain, which I avoid on the bike like the plague...

"Winter"? What is this "Winter" you speak of? Family moved to Florida in 1967, the year "Winter" went extinct. So the only salt I run into is around the local McDonald's when one of the "fry technicians" gets over exuberant when salting the fries. But I can appreciate those wanting to keep the road salts off their cars and extend the life of one of the truly great sports cars. Though when the weather is good you should drive as often as you can. Life is too short not to.
