Sold this one to get my 04 C5 convertible.
Great bird, but I don't miss it.
It went to a collector in Australia.

I've always been involved in old muscle cars since high school, in the mid 80's. Drag racing or just cruising around. My love falls primarily in engine building and getting the most power I can out of whatever I'm working on. My last car that I sold earlier this year was a '70 Chevelle that was more of a street/strip type car with a 489 big block, just short of 650HP.

Over the last 4 years or so we toured on Power Tour and Drag week. Driving 1500 plus miles in a old car with a engine like that is a little hard on the wallet, not to mention no air condition...ha ha.

Anyway this year I decided to sell the Chevelle-which took 2 days. I had called on a '04 Z06 Commemorative the week before I put the car up for sale. Somehow it all worked out that I sold the Chevelle on a tuesday and was picking up the C5 just a few days later. I've never looked back either-I get asked all the time if I miss the old stuff. Not a chance.

Exactly!! I still like checking out the old cars and such but I have yet to find one bad thing about the "modern muscle" cars.

Not to mention the potential of the C5's and LS engine is outrageous!

I had a 2008 Chevy Equinox Sport. Pretty. Ice vehicle and for an SUV had decent performance.

Sold our 2015 Z51 C7 and bought a Commemorative C5 convertible. This is now our 8th Corvette. C4's, C5's, C6 GS, C7 Z51, etc.

The C7 is a great car but to me it had no "soul". Felt cold and sterile when driving it. Plus I can mess around with modifying the C5 and not have to worry about resale impact.

I usually own multiple cars at once, with a focus on the 'main toy' if you will.

Ive had a line of mustangs, some Fbodies etc.

Id wanted a vette, particularly a c5 when I had grown tired of my h/c/i blown 94 mustang. It was more setup to handle than drag (used to have a bunch of turbo Awd DSMs, so I like darty little cars).

I spent a summer trying to buy a c5; which I should've then as I swear they were cheaper then @ 8yrs ago. Near pulled the trigger on a 97 m6 coupe with 79k...I walked as I suspected it was wrecked; but it was repaired well and only 13k. Looked at a handful of others.

Ended up deciding to own a car outright vs adding a loan (had 10k budget)

Bought a 97 Cobra setup as an American Iron roadracer. I loved it. However it was 'slow' - 13.5 @ 105 on a tire. I bought a T trim for it and was going to forge the Teskid and shoot for 6-700whp

Then I lost my job. Decided to sell off toys.

New job meant new car. I was back and fourth on a c5 or an S197 chassis mustang. I decided to go with the newer car that was better on paper for cost, quality, ease of modding, aftermarket etc etc. I found a super clean 06 GT premium with 3:55s and pulled the trigger. The problem was I bought a coupe; and that I was used to the go-kart feel of my 97 4v car.

No matter what I did, I felt like I was in a lowered f150. It was fast and pretty at 460whp, but I kept it just under a year.

During my ownership I bought a Miata to get my open air sports car fix. Unfortunately I totally gave up driving the mustang. It was more fun to drive a 118hp 2180lb car than a 530hp 3400lb car...go figure.

I always wanted a late model WS6 t/a and I managed to find a super cheap low mile black 02 ws6 m6 car locally. I bought a total chassis package from BMR with konis and the works. Fiske wheels, heads etc etc.

I was turning 30 and had an early midlife thinking it's now or never on a vette. I returned all the goodies I bought, sold the WS6 at a healthy profit and regrettingly sold my Miata; as it gave me c6 money if I wanted. The corvette in my mind was to blend the Miata and ws6 into one car.

In the midst of c6 shopping I found my c5 coupe. It was not the color I wanted, but it was the cleanest c5 in the past 20+ I'd looked at. I test drove a z51 m6 c6 back to back with the z51 c5 at the dealership. Literally getting out of one car and into the other. The c5 just felt like home. It was ugly to me, but so clean. In hindsight I wish I didn't settle on a color- and also should've driven an ponied up for the red/black z51 ls3 car at another place - but I wanted to own a vette outright cash, as a rite of passage.

So here I am with it.

Day of:

As it sits:

Interestingly enough I lost my job AGAIN, now having more toys with another turbo sn95 and a 69 stingray... But I've been trying HARD not to give up the toys again. Actually had/have the sn95 and c5 up for sale.

Still want another Miata...and an early Viper. Never ends.

In 2011 I purchased a 1984 and over the next 2 years I completely rebuilt the car.

In early 2014 i started looking at C5s. I purchased my 2001 Coupe in May of 2014.

I was going to sell my 1984 but I decided to just keep them both.
