Some Days, the Corvette Is a Target

I understand your restraint being in traffic and all, and I wouldn't play in those conditions either, but given some more vacant stretches of road, those vehicles would be served up on a platter to even a stock C5...unless were talkin Rousch Mustangs, or Wildcats, or 500+ hp Camaros...those other vehicles would be lunch for a C5, let alone a C5Z...
those cars are comparable to a stock c5, your not going to blow them away..... and the special ones you mention are not going to beat by a srock c5, z or not.

Thanks MSG! Are those 18's and 19's? Also, tire sizes and did you lower it?

The car was slightly lowered on stock bolts. I had originally lowered it as far as possible on stock bolts, but I didn't like the scraping so I raised it back up to about 1" below stock. I then installed Koni FSD shocks and it seemed to have settled even a little lower afterwards. I still scrape, but not as bad.

19" front and rear. Hankook V12 tires 275/Front and 305/Rear. They were a complete bolt on package with sensors.

Dodge Neons and lifted pickups aren't going to touch a C5...new Mustang GTs are comparable to a base C5, but not a C5Z...and I know no stock C5s will beat a Roush or a Wildcat...

Now if you supercharge it......it only takes about two to three seconds at any speed to "easily dispatch them", then most but not all will just slowly catch up after they see you hit the breaks and give you a thumbs up They know there is no point, a few will keep going but at that point I'm done and let them go.
Edit, you said served up on a platter, I took that to mean easily beat.
Sorry if that is not what you meant.

Ya I was talking about the Camaros and Mustang GTs not the lifted trucks or neons etc. but easily dispatched even by a Z06, I would say not so much on the street. Not a whole lot of diff in quarter mile times which to me translate to the street. I don't play for a whole 12 to 13 seconds on any street so it would be too close to say "easy" IMO.

Yeah, that is what I meant, but I probably should've just said the C5 is still faster..."served up on a platter" was an exaggeration...

I love the ricers with the fart cans. And I agree, impossible to drive "spirited" around here this time of year. Especially with the jerks who love to hog the left lane for no reason. I equate driving here this time of year to more of a "Pole Position" task (for those who remember that video game) than normal driving.

Go figure... I get that every time I drive my Z...... and mine is making 750 to the tire... there was a time when I would "show my ***"... literally! But not anymore.. I simply allow them to do their thing and just continue cruising... now, if it's a C7Z, viper, something like that I "may" motion to follow me to Mexico.... But I pay the other no attention at all. simply wave and nod my head.. Every now and then i'll clap for them..

Thanks. As mentioned, I'm currently shopping a 2017 C7 Z06 stable mate and plan to keep the C5. Every dealer so far inquired into whether I plan to trade. One service manager told me if I decided to trade, my C5 wouldn't even see the lot.

In response to the original post, I get that a lot when I am out and about.
The way I feel about it is they are a bunch of punks with a testosterone level of 5000, and an IQ of -5.
Prime example of this is, I live on a heavily traveled street, and sometimes I have to wait for traffic to clear before entering the roadway.
There is this young punk that lives somewhere in the neighborhood, and owns a motorcycle.
On a couple of occasions when he has seen my car waiting to enter the street, up goes the front wheel of his motorcycle and by now he is hitting a fairly fast clip, in an effort(I guess) to impress me because I drive a Corvette.
The only thing he is impressing is himself.
To the rest of us out there, he is an absolute jerk.
Bob.
