Default clutch question

Ok CF, i've got an 02 c5z that i just purchased an a&a V3-t and alky meth or and with that and other current mods, I'm hoping for 600-ish rwhp. With that being said, I've currently got a tr6060 installed and what was told by the dealership that I bought it from, an LS7 clutch and flywheel. I haven't had any issues with the current set up with zero clutch slip but I know once i throw the other goodies on, it won't last long. My question is, should I go ahead and upgrade to a twin disc that can handle the power to avoid any issues during the tuning stage or would the ls7 hold temporarily until I get the tune squared away and then swap the clutch. Thanks in advance.

Although I didn't have the same kind of blower put on my car,and I did have my original low mile clutch in when I had my blower installed,my clutch lasted until the 1st time I got on it. The LS7 clutch might last for a little bit,but at 550-600 rwhp,it won't last long.imo. Your going to love the new feeling.

I'd go ahead and replace it... it might last through tuning but won't for much long afterwards if you drive the car hard so one way or another it's most likely going to need to be done, might as well get it out of the way so you don't have to worry about it again... it would also be a good idea to inspect and possibly upgrade other drivetrain parts while it's out

The LS7 clutch is what they use in the ZR1, so I would hope you could put 600hp to it without issue.

zr1 has a twin disc that will hold much more than an ls7 clutch

thanks for the info. with that being said, I'm looking at the McLeod RXT but having a tr6060 instead of the t56 do I need to shop for one for a c6 or are they pretty much the same between the two transmissions?

same thing... just get the clutch for your car and you're good, good choice on the rxt as well... do you know all the details on your 6060 as far as ratios, if it has been beefed up, etc?... what about the diff?

I do not know all details. Purchased the car site unseen (will never do again) while I was deployed earlier this year. When I arrived at the dealership, I did a walk around and test drive and everything seemed fine. This was my second z and it had been a few years since my last.

Anyways, a few days later, I went to lower it a bit on stock bolts as I had on my previous one. The rear just didn't look right. I got a hold of the dealership to see if I could get the previous owners info. They would not give it to me for legal reasons, so they said, but they contacted him and sent me a list of mods.

I was told it had the trans/diff/crade/ and all suspension components front and back out of an 09z. LS7 clutch, upgraded valve springs, and corsa exhaust as well as a c6z shifter. Later on I noticed that it had an ls1 style intake as opposed to the ls6 and it had the power steering pump spacers on it so i'm assuming it had a plate kit of some sort as well as hidden purge button and arming switch that I didn't find until later on.

a c6z tr6060 and diff, even in stock form, is substantially stronger than the c5z trans and diff and the swap is fairly expensive so I would not be upset about already having that done... are you certain it has an ls1 intake?

I believe so. The airbox had the smaller openings in it as opposed to the LS6 air box

oh ok I thought you were referring to the intake manifold not the air box... the air box can easily be swapped out for something better so it's not really a huge issue in my opinion
