Which for a street car is a good thing. I could see more low end and overall torque being beneficial on a prepped track with slicks, but it all depends on what you want to use the car for.
Thanks buddy. Everything you stated is exactly what I had in mind with this setup. This is just a very fun street car that I take canyon carving and occasionally hit the dragstrip with.

Only thing Im using from the 5.3 is the block and heads. Wiring is original to the car including sensors

Im aware of the added weight of the iron block. The car has had a lot of weight reductions and as it sits with the LS3 and supercharger it weighed in at just over 3300lbs with a full tank of gas. So itll be closer to 3400lbs which is close to stock. I will probably do the LPE battery relocation kit soon. Also Im on adjustable coilovers and was already planning on stiffer springs. The engines in our cars are pretty close to center so it wont affect handling as much as some may think. This isnt a time attack autox car either. Many here with iron blocks have noted no major ill effects to the handling of the car.

The car already has an upgraded radiator, DRM oil cooler and Tracspec vents on the hood to aid with cooling along with airflow mods to the front fascia.

Here are some pics of the engine and some internal parts. The block was hot tanked and checked then torque honed. Everything was weighed and balanced. Melling high volume oil pump and heavy duty timing set went in as well. BTR cam installed and degreed.

I kept the 5.3 cylinder heads to keep compression around 9.5:1 even though Im on E85. We did clean them up and bowl port them. We then cut them for a 2in intake valves, new ss exhaust valves as well. Upgraded the springs too of course. New guides.

A friend owns the machine shop which is why I even did this to the heads. Many of my parts were either donated or cheap and since beggars cant be choosers, I rolled with it and decided to get the most out of them.

And now for probably the most controversial component of the build, the chinese intake. Now, before you flame me, I got this directly from a vendor of it and was told to try it. And, yes, I read all the threads about it, good and bad, weight and "heat sink" comments. Not to worry though, I do a have a stock LS2 intake somewhere in the garage if needed. This intake is about 8lbs heavier than a FAST 102.

This is the Pro Comp LS2 Qualifier intake (aka Typhoon by Professional Products) with the 96mm tb opening (I already have a LS2 ported 90mm tb on the car). I already knew I was gonna probably have to clean up the boogers and casting flaws in it but I figured it would be perfect to practice my porting on. I noticed that the intake runner by the tb opening acted as sort of a wall for the incoming airflow. The air basically had to make a 90* turn when hitting the runner which cant be optimal. Also a Nick Williams 102mm tb was donated to me so I would have to port the opening as well.

As you can see in the pics i ported all the runners inside the plenum and cleaned up all the casting lines and ridges. I also decided to fill the tb opening with aluminum weld and smooth it out as to create a smooth path and ramp for the air vs the wall of a runner that was there. We'll see how well it works but I expect it to increase flow and airflow velocity.

This intake has been tested to be on par or slightly outperform a LS6 intake out the box. However, I would NOT recommend this intake as a bolt on replacement unless you plan on spending as much time as I did (8 or so hours) modding it and cleaning it up. Other than that it should perform well.

Default I can see the finish line!

Installed the motor the other day. Should be a day or two away from the first start up. Hopefully I'll have some cool video to share really soon. Also I figured it be a perfect time to install Improved Racing's oil baffle trap door mod for the two piece batwing oil pans.

Saw this thread for you motor but am now intrigued by your rear bumper. Looking for exactly that a build in rear curve spoiler, blended in diffuser, and the indented CORVETTE letters smooth

Putting some miles on it now. Hopefully final tuning and a dyno session in the next week or two.

Well, I finally got the car on the dyno for final tuning the other day. I put a stock 90mm LS2 throttle body on the car after the Nick Williams kept giving me issues. We were finally able to get some pulls at full boost, 25#. I had to sit in the trunk since we were getting wheel spin for almost the whole pull and I was on street tires. I didnt get a pic of the final cleaner dyno graph but you can get an idea with the one I posted. We left the tune on the conservative side since I told my tuner I will be doing half mile and one mile racing events. So far Im very happy with the car and how it drives. Its very responsive and a complete animal when the boost really kicks in. It put down 850+rwhp all day long and then drove home for two hours in LA traffic without skipping a beat and running cooler than a stock C5.

I love to read stuff like this. Reminds me about my younger days of breaking parts.
