Would you go without insurance on your Corvette? Even if it wasn't mandatory, you would likely purchase insurance.

So why not have insurance on your removable roof? GM has no "door chime" or "warning system" letting you know that your roof is not securely latched. Flying roofs are real (search this forum) and they are dangerous. Just think what would happen if your roof lifted off of your vehicle and hit the vehicle behind you. Just think if that roof penetrated the windshield.

There are many, probably all "flying roof club" (FRC) members that wished something was around to alert them if the top was not latched. Think it will never happen to you because of how careful and meticulous you are? Ever lose track of your keys, or wallet? You're relying on your memory and repetitive actions to ensure your roof is latched down. But people get distracted, which is the number one reason for membership in the FRC. The number of distractions are limitless: Neighbor starts talking to you, kids start running around your Vette with toys that can harm your paint, your cell phone rings, it starts to rain while putting your top back on so you back into the garage and forget.... Don't put 100% trust into remembering to latch your roof.
