New parts purchased this month - I still have not driven the car more than 10 feet since it was delivered - and they're talking another 6" of snow next week...grrrrr!

Mileage - 4,524 miles

Polished 5-spoke Y2K's / BFG Comp 2's
Ti Z06 axle back setup (500 mile take off)
C6 Z51 F&R Sway bars and Cultrag End links
New belt / hoses / tensioners / LMC5

C'MON SPRING!!!

I'd love to know your impression of the ride difference with the new sway bars....if you ever get to drive the car...we're expecting the same weather!

Dave - You mentioned changing the console lid. I read where the OE is not leather and went looking for a replacement. Here's what I bought.

https://www.corvettepartscenter.com/...censed-1997-04

A little more subtle than what you want to remove and leather!

Thanks Jeff I like that - but I was able to take the funky cover off of the OEM lid - it didn't harm the original one like I had suspected it would, whew!

I will report back Chas - yeah this winter has been great up until NOW!

I have the F45 real time damping suspension, it'll be interesting to see how the end result will be. I'll let you know once the snow melts and the salt is rinsed off of the streets...grrrrr!

Yep, Winter Is Coming.....still.

I saw references to a console pad. Check out RedlineGoods.com, they are supportive vendors here, everything's leather and completely custom for reasonable prices.

I understand the attraction of just looking at a low mileage car, but there are so many C5's out there, it's not worth missing out on the enjoyment of driving it. Even with 50ths. I know someone who bought one new with the idea of it being worth a mint eventually. He's got a long wait.

Yeah - I bought this car to drive (a lot!) - I'm 57 years old, by the time this car will be worth anything I'll be long gone. I got the car for a great price so as far as I'm concerned I'm already ahead on it. I intend to mod it just enough to ratchet up the fun meter and not worry about it. Now if it would just stop snowing!

That's how I felt about this one. A few easy mods and then personalizing. I did a used Hall Intake, Z06 exhaust and ECS street tune so I'm close to the 400 hp I had on my Z, tho this one is a bit more comfortable and much easier to clean than black!

I didnt read the entire thread but ignore all the advice to get the LMC5. You have an automatic and they dont need the LMC5. If someone already told you this then disregard.

Thanks, no one told me that, LOL.

So I DON'T need the LMC5? My key fobs don't work, and since they are 17 yrs old I'm suspecting they are in need of batteries. Same with my TPM sensors (I bought new OEM Schraders from TireRack).

Here's from Compliance:
DO I NEED AN LMC5?
The answer is YES if you have one of the following C5 Corvettes:
1997-2004 with a manual transmission

1997-2000 with an automatic transmission

2001-2004 European export Corvettes with an automatic transmission

This means that over 126,000 Corvettes are susceptible to this debilitating problem. It is very likely that every one of them WILL experience failure of the steering column lock system at some time. Domestic 2001-2004 Corvettes with an automatic transmission have not been the subject of a recall for the column lock problem. Of course, since you can install an LMC5 in ANY 1997-2004 Corvette, you'll be covered regardless. You can always just keep an LMC5 and wrenches in the glove box, should you ever experience any column lock problems.
