Wiper Blades
A few years back, I bought new wiper blades from Costco - the Goodyear "beam" type blades. I liked them so they ended up on our other two vehicles - my wife's car and our Chevy truck.
But after a while on my wife's car, which gets used the most, they started to get noisy. Fine in a downpour, but a tendency to "judder" in light rain.
So, I replaced them with Rain-X Quantum's. They seem to be fine, do a good/excellent job and are quiet. So I went ahead bought some for the C5 but had not yet put them on.
Today, with a threat of snow here over the next few days, I lifted the truck blades off the windshield (it lives outside) - and found that one of the blades had disintegrated, in that the actual "wiper" part of the rubber had detached from the base. Apart from that it was fine - no obvious damage, etc. I can only assume that being outside and subject to sun, rain, etc., it had essentially rotted, as the same type of blades on the C5, which lives in the garage, were still fine. The truck does not accumulate much mileage other than local runs to HD, Lowes, etc., so there has been very little actual use of the wipers.
So that kind of forced me to put the new Rain X blades on the C5 today, so I could use one of the take off Goodyears on the truck for now - it's too long, but will work if I have to use it to go anywhere in the post-weekend predicted snowstorm - in 4WD that thing is unstoppable.
I know most C5's don't live out in the elements, but if you have these blades, best to check that they are still good.

The elements can work quickly to degrade rubber pieces on a vehicle. It's always a good idea to check such things as the wiper blades, hoses, belts, etc. on a regular basis to ensure they are in good shape.
