Default Advice on a 2002 C5 and Engine sound video added

I just added a short video of the engine running . Can anyone tell me if is sounds correct?

Hi everyone I am going to look at a 2002 C5 6spd 89k. It is 3 hours away and I don't want to waste mine or there time.
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/a...051534205.html

. Things that I know are bad. Seats rock. (simple fix) Dr seat needs recovering. (probably re foam and recover both) Ac display has the Dim backlight issue (see people on ebay that can fix). Owner says it has a light valve cover leak. The car has 89k on it and is from Texas originally. It has a clean carfax. I have talked him down to 12K but I am not sure if that is still to high. I price the Seat Rock at $80 to fix/ Seats $600-$900 or so/ Ac display $150 rebuilt. Valve cover gasket ? I am able to do all the work myself.

I don't need to rush into anything and don't want to make any mistakes. Let me know what you think.
The car will just be a summer car and maybe 3500 miles a year.

I would check the age of the tires and definitely pull the codes.

Check belts and hoses too. Check out the stickies at the top of the page and the one on weights, measures, etc. in the C5 Tech section.

Seems like a more than fair price assuming everything else is in good condition.

$80 to fix the rocking seat? Don't you just put a washer in there to stop the rocking?

Couple helpers...

1) Seat fix

http://www.lieblweb.com/c5seatfix.html

2) How to pull the codes

Those saying check codes are correct, but don't worry too much about LDCM and RDCM codes so long as windows go up and down and doors lock and unlock. Don't worry about stupid SCm code that it cant tell where steering wheel or seat is positioned for your driving pleasure so long as you can position it to your pleasure. Don't worry too much about HVAC codes so long as A/C blows cold out of both sides. Pay attention to PCM codes and TCS codes, some of them can be serious issues.

I'm no expert, but it does have an unusual sound to me.

Hopefully others will chime in.

I will say if you are the least bit unsure, walk away. There are allot of C5's out there.

I trust my gut when making a purchase. If it doesn't feel right, I don't buy. My 2003 Z06 had 167.000 miles on the clock when I bought it. The only "leak" was minor staining on the left side of the diff. I paid $17,000 almost 6 years ago

It now has 260,000+ miles and still no engine leaks and my seat is nowhere as bad as what is in the picture. I did fix the "leaky butt" and eventually experienced the dim display which is easy to fix if you can solder.

All items on the car you're looking at are fixable. It is up to you what is acceptable. Just relaying my experience. I couldn't open the video so cannot comment if the noise is normal.

Very hard to tell. But I think I hear a little knock in there also. 3 hours away. I would be patient and wait till there is / are some closer to home to look at. I was in the same boat at about this same time last year. Was looking to buy my first c5 after selling a beautiful Ducati 996. I started getting a bit crazed with the lack of cars near me for sale. Even considered buying a Calif car (3000 miles away) but came to my senses.

Wait a few more weeks and you will start to see a lot more c5's listed for sale. Not many listed in parts of the country that are still in winter and very early spring.
