MaxJax 2 post car lift review
After waiting too long, I purchased a mid rise garage lift to aid in working on my C5. I am absolutely impressed with this and wish I had pulled the trigger a couple of years ago. Take a look at my Max Jax review if you are in the market.

Nice review. It does look like a quality product. Sure wish I had a taller ceiling in my garage.

Nice video, thanks for sharing!

Great Video, I have been looking at jacks that will fit in my garage and be strong enough for my safety factors.
I measured my garage, especially to make sure this would fit with my Wife's car in place, and it works!
I am ordering this jack today as a result of you showing how nice this thing is.
Thanks for sharing!

This appears to be a nice product, my only concern would be the concrete pad in your garage that the lift is bolted to. Per the website, a minimum of 4" of 3,000 psi concrete is needed to support the lift & the anchors/bolts. I would like to see a horizontal post that connects both lifts to each other versus 2 individual lifts which rely more on the anchor bolts for support because they are cantilevered the way that they are designed now. You never know what concrete pad depth & strength was used by the home builder

It seems like the weight of the vehicle is entirely dependent on those 3 outer concrete bolts on the risers -- bolts which are very close to the effective lever center of the uprights.
Is it ok? Probably. I'm sure the company researched it with their engineers. But I wouldn't be comfortable with it.
As stated the previous poster, I also would like to see a horizontal bar connecting the lift towers at the top. Effect would be to greatly reduce the tension load of the outer pillar bolts and transferring it to a compression load on the upper horizontal span connecting the tower tops.

I've had my MaxJax for two years now and I am very happy with it for lifting both my c4 and C5. I use one of those Harbor Freight stools with wheels and I can sit on the stool and roll under the car with just enough headroom.
One thing I really recommend is to have a dedicated 20A circuit for the MaxJak pump. That way you can have an air compressor or other electric tools on a different circuit and not worry about tripping a breaker.
Make sure that your garage floor is thick enough and there are no cracks in the existing slab near where you will install the posts. My floor was not thick enough so I had two 4'x4'x12" slabs poured to make sure the area was strong enough.

Thanks for posting the video.
I've got a short ceiling in my garage. Do you happen to know the measurement to the top of the car when the lift is at the "up" position? Before I buy one I want to make sure it will clear my garage door opener.

Chop top looks cool, but I am 6'-1" so I have to pass. I have focused on the engine though. Highly modified to GM series 2 3800 Supercharged. E85, 60lb injectors, VS Cam, 13 pounds of boost = 11.8 @114 in quarter mile and 1.7 60' times on street tires. Lots of fun. have used the fiero to learn how to tune on HP tuners and will apply that knowledge to a possible centrifugal supercharger for the Vette.

I was wanting to know more too before I purchased. This impressed me as well as the fact that Danmar is a REAL company with a good history. You can get a full rise lift with tower tops connected as you suggest, but then it is not a portable mid rise life for us non full size 14' shop ceiling owners.

However, I *am* concerned about the uniformity & tensile strength of residential concrete being so absolutely critical to the safety of this particular lift design.
In a case like yours where you oversaw the pour, it would likely be fine. I didn't witness my pour, but I've seen enough other garage floor pours that I'm suspect of their integrity for such an application.

I have one of these lifts installed. My floor is 5" thick 4000 psi so i am not worried about my particular installation. What is concerning me is the constant leaking of the couplers for the hoses. Both sides leak from the couplers. Teflonn tape and tightening to no avail. They use cheap Chinese product. This is very well documented on garage journal and other websites. I will be changing out all of the couplers on my hoses per the documentation on garage journal as it is a pain cleaning up and bleeding the rams. Their quality has changed since these are produced in China. Their customer service is not the best as well. I like the product, however, I get tired of messing with the leaking fluid.
