Question about painting rotor hats
I took my car to two different body shops and neither one would paint the rotor hats. I wanted to paint them Navy Blue Metallic to match my body color and some brake calipers that I have on order.
The body shops just said that by the time I got home the paint would start flaking off - I guess from the heat.
Is there a special clearcoat or some other process (besides powdercoating) that would allow me to paint the center of my rotors a factory color?
Any input appreciated.

All you should need is high heat paint. Most auto supply stores sell it. I guess the problem would be in matching the color you want. You might see if the colors they have are close to what you want.

I agree; high-temp paint. You may have to settle for black, though, since a perfect color-match will be nearly impossible. I used BBQ paint on my hats and it works perfectly.

I agree, use high temp paint or BBQ paint, and all should be well!! I have mine painted black, and it has been a year with no issues!!

I've painted my mag red, silver, and black at different times. Except for mag red, I used ACE rust inhibitor spray paint. I've never had a peeling problem. If you have the stock brake pads, the red and silver will get coated with brake dust and every so often you'll need to remove it with mineral spirits. I now have mine painted black with three coats of clear coat on top of three coats of black. I switched to ceramic pads. No problems and no brake dust.

This thread just went around a few days ago:
rusting, peeling rotor hats, can they be painted?
Good luck with the rotor hats.

I can offer an opinion... any 500 F paint will work.. unless your autocrossing.. then you may need 1200F paint..
VHT comes in 1500 F
Painting the hats a body color to me is just too much..In my opinion..
if you want to keep them from rusting.. I would use 00 steel wool and polish them up as much as possible then I would mask off the pad path, then I would use VHT clear and put on a few coats
