Over $10,000 has been invested in these shocks but regretfully I lost my budget so they need to be sold before I can race with them.
Why Moton shocks are the best, and why do the majority of the World Challenge teams use them?
Most high end shocks like Ohlin or Penske can be made to work excellent; however they both lack two unique features.
1) Moton has the largest diameter shaft in the industry and moves more fluid then any in the industry. The greater the fluid movement the better you can control it (finer control). In road racing you want a low center of gravity that will often limit shock travel before tire rubbing. Many WC cars have less than 1” of bump shock travel, so believe me when I say that you want as much fluid travel as you can get for good tunability.
2) Moton uses a unique valve that relies less on the shims for adjusting fluid movement. The reason this is better, you have a wider range of adjustment to respond to different tracks or circumstances. The standard Penske style shock has minimal adjustability before the shock needs to be taken apart, re-shimmed and shock dyno’d. Let’s face it, most of us don’t have a dedicated shock man who can do this during testing so teams typically settle for the best setting they can get with the shocks valved the way they are. With a drastic change like rain you will have a huge advantage with the adjustability of the Moton.
Total cost for everything- $4000
