Alright well i have a fresh lme built 408 for sale. I bought it of another member about 6 months ago setup for boost with -32cc pistons with only like 400 miles and 20 passes, well i installed it and ran it for 50 miles NA just to make sure everything was perfect. Well i then sold my turbo stuff before ever installing it, and then had the -8cc NA nitrous pistons installed along with new bearings so the motor is completely fresh, and it was pretty much fresh before since there was less than 500 total miles on it.

Now this motor has the best of the best parts, its upgraded with 1/2" ARP head studs, these are serious studs that will hold huge power.

$3500 for the shortblock!!!! $4200 complete with new cometic custom head gaskets, all covers, gaskets, bolts, oil pan, pickup, windage tray, ati balancer, and tci flexplate. Thats a STEAL!!!!!

I have a LME 408 that i am not going to be using for my next build. It was intended to be a solid roller 408 that ran mid 9's n/a. Here is the specs on the motor.

408 iron block built by LME
GM 6.0L Iron block (new)
Callies Compstar 4340 4.0" stroke 2.0" pin
Callies Compstar 6.125" H beam rods w/ ARP 2000 7/16" bolts
Wiseco forged Nitrous 4.030" -8cc dish pistons
Childs & Albert Fire Power rings (for high heat applications)
Clevite MS 2199 H main bearings
Clevite CB 745 H rod bearings
Dura Bond CH-23 cam beraings
ARP main studs
1/2" arp head studs

$3500 for the shortblock!!!! $4200 complete with new cometic custom head gaskets, all covers, gaskets, bolts, oil pan, pickup, windage tray, ati balancer, and tci flexplate. Thats a STEAL!!!!!

also can include the following parts...
all engine covers, bolts and gaskets $150
oil pan with pickup with bolts and gaskets $200
ported ls6 oil pump $100
dual roller timing chain $100
ati balancer w/ arp bolt $350
tci flexplate $175

also have many other parts ill list once the motor sells.

here is a pic of the motor...

will ship but prefer local pickup but will deliver as well. Im sure we can work something out.

Man, if you still had the -32cc pistons in it, I would be all over this. Do you still have the -32cc pistons to sell separately?

What alternator mount is that? I plan the same electric WP with only the alt. driven by a belt.

i do not have the -32cc pistons, but the great thing about the motor being fresh is you could put new pistons in now and then sell these brand new ones, or even find someone to trade you. The great thing about this motor is the pistons are 4.030 so they are by far the most popular piston made so pistons are super easy to find.

The alt mount is the bmr relocation bracket. Its like $125 from bmr and is a great set up. Water pump is a meziere race version as well.

That's cool - but the only problem is, I can build this same forged short block for $3,400 by starting out with my used truck engine. I'm just being tempted to be lazy and buy one already built. That is a very nice looking package you have in that last picture. I plan to have a very similar setup going into my '69 Nova by the end of this year.

Absolutely no way can you build an engine of this caliber for that $$. You know how much these head studs cost? how about the machining to the block for them?

crank 1000
rods 600
pistons 600
rings 200
bearings 350
arp main studs 200
arp head studs 450
block 750

so parts alone would cost $4150
machining alone for the 1/2" head studs was an extra $520
all other machining and assembly $1800

so please dont post in my sale thread that this motor can be built for $3400 its not possible, not even close. you could probably build a 408 using used parts and not a balanced rotating assembly and just get by with the bare minimum machining and skip arp hardware but thats about it. or if you are a machinist and no counting labor thats possible.

I'll back out of a price war out of respect for your nice build. You do have a solid foundation for a mean 408, and I wasn't factoring in the extra cost to machine the ½" head studs.

Was the engine rebalanced for the new pistons?

yes definitely, i would never run an unbalanced rot assembly, especially when this baby is made to make a ton of power and turn 7k+ rpm.
