XSPower C5 Longtube Headers

Man, you're lucky. Mine still hits on the steering shaft if I take a right turn hard (on the track, on-ramp, etc). Looks like I'm going to have to pull the header out and increase clearance. Not really looking forward to that.

If you have less than 1/8" of clearance around the steering shaft, pull it now and add a dent for clearance. The steering shaft isn't perfectly round, and when you turn to the right, the shaft is slightly wider, reducing clearance even further.
I've tried adding clearance with the header installed, and it just won't work, the angle isn't right. Trust me, do it before you get it all wrapped up.

Almost finished. I got the headers in position, but it is HOT here in Alabama!. I had to splice two wires on a sensor located on the oil pan. Heat had made the wires brittle. I replaced the wires and covered them in heat wrap. The starter was a monster. BTW what are the torque specs for the starter and headers. I used studs instead of header bolts. It made the mounting easier. I can't wait to hear it fire up!

realistically, if i didnt dent the header for the steering shaft... worst case scenario whats going to happen?

Worst case? I suppose it could damage the steering rack over time. When you turn right, the engine leans to the left slightly (there's SOME play in the mounts) and depending on clearance, the weight of the engine rests on the shaft. That'll put the engine weight's pressure on the u-joint and ultimately the rack. There probably won't be any immediate impacts, but it's something that could have more long-term issues.
Immediately, you do feel it through the steering wheel. It's annoying. When I turn hard right (even just an on-ramp or something), there's a very significant vibration through the steering wheel. I did have my car at the track and put an hour's total time on it there with no ill effects other than vibration through the wheel on right turns.
I just regret not making the dent deeper than I did since I'm going to have to pull the header off. I got it sealed just right currently with no leaks, and I don't know if I'll be able to do it again. That's why I caution: if you have less than 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch clearance, you'll regret not adding some. I know it's hard when you're excited to get them on (that why I rushed mine) but trust me, it's worth the time up front.

Oh, I hear ya! My car's done and dyno tuned even with no leaks. I really don't want to touch it, but I track my car and really don't want to risk hurting anything.

I had to clearance mine after I had them ceramic coated. So just imagine how pissed I was. Especially when I waited for the revisions to solve that issue and still had to clearance the header. But all said and done they sound great and you definitely feel the difference even without tuning. Good luck and enjoy

Drove the car on the new setup this weekend, love it! probably still need to get a mufflered system, its a little ridiculous with the bassani straight pipes but... overall awesome!
