Just step up little more, and get 30 spline main shaft and machined pinion (rear end gears) to accept 30 spline and be done with it.
Contact rkt56.com rick will help you and explain, i assumed you upgrading bronze shift forks, billet keys...etc while you there. I have never seen anyone yet broke 30 spline shaft.
