This is the original serial interface and will only work on an 02 C5. It has the enhanced IO so you can hook up a wideband to it. There are no credits with this version and it cannot be upgraded. It works fine and would be good for someone who would like to tune their car or get their feet wet in tuning for a minimal investment.

Only 02 ls cars can be tuned? 98's had a weird ecm, but never heard of any other issues swapping between years with hp tuners.
The license for this interface is locked to 2002 model year cars to the best of my knowledge. I know it will work on other 2002's as I have used it on other 2002's. My cousin has an 03Z, I can try it on his car on the weekend. I just don't someone ended up with something they can't use.

I have been doing research on HP Tuners as I am considering buying it. This version is the old Serial version as 97 SC Cobra mentioned in the original post. HP Tuners stopped selling the upgrade to the current MPVI usb software several years ago and also stopped selling upgrade credits to add additional vehicles for this serial version. This version can only be used for whatever licenses are on it and whatever vehicles those licenses cover. If it is licensed to 2002 corvettes, it will work with as many 2002's as you want to tune but I'm not sure if that license covers a year range of corvettes. In the license section of the software it will list what licenses are on it so it may clearly state 2002 year or it may state a range of years, I am not sure how they sold the corvette license at that time.

Thanks for the reply sly. I can verify 100% but am sure that this cannot be used on other model years. They had not gone to the credit system yet so this is licensed to one vehicle year only. I'm not sure if it would do F bodies as well? They would have the same ecs I would imagine.
In any case it works perfect, you can hook up a wideband like the new pro version and it's gets you into the game relatively cheap.
