You know these are one-time use, right? If it has been used on your car, it is absolutely useless to anyone else. :smash:

i am beginning to doubt this since and think it is just a marketing pitch, i have seen several for duramax's on ebay that have sent back to diablo for reprogramming. wonder what people are telling them to get them reprogrammed i followed the feedback and would think people would be pissed if they bought a useless device just as an fyi?

I tried pulling my into another Vette....works with the troubleshooting but will not load performance tune. I think it truly does marry the VIN for life. You might sweet talk Diablosport into reprograming, but I doubt it.

I talked to a technician at Hypertech and he told me the way the programmers work is when you down load the custom program from the programmer into your cars computer it takes your stock program and stores it in the programmer. So it swaps programs. So to sell your programmer you should swap them back and restore your cars stock program into the computer and the custom program back into the programmer. I have been told that this is how the Predator works too and if the seller doesn't swap programs back all you can do with it is diagnose touble codes. But you can't program with it.

Well, I would think that the predator would work the same way that the hypertech does. I had one and once you return the stock tune back to the car, you can tune another car with it.

Well, have you returned the stock tune back to the car from the Predator?

Why not try it on another vette to be certain that it will work that way?

If it does, then I would be interested.

Believe me guys it will NOT work. Been there, tried that, it is definitely a no go. Get with James from RWTD.com, he will confirm that there is absolutely no way that the programmer will work once it has been married to a VIN number. It would be nice, I agree, but once you make that commitment the only good it is for resale is when you sell it to the new owner with the car. :yesnod:

That's the down side to the Predator. Once you use it, it's married to the car and there is no divorce with it, not without it taking your money. A possible waste of $400+. It almost seems like they weren't too sure of the product and made it this way so you were stuck with it. One huge downside.

Airwolf- I think the reason the predator cannot be re-used is more of a marketing/sales strategy, not because they are unsure. I got mine from James @ RWTD and the customer service is top-notch. Think about it- how many more units do you think they will sell if the "used" market is non-existent? You have no choice but to buy new. The predator is no comparison to a hypertech, and can be bought through forum vendors for the same price than a hypertech. SCOTT

Give us some links to DuraMax's Predators that they are selling or have sold on eBay. BTW, who is DuraMax anyway? Do you have a link to their website? Let's do some more research.

The first one just finished and there is no feedback on this. The second one is still going on.

I don't think that those sellers know that they won't work to program another vehicle. I think that they will end up unwinding the deal and/or get bad feedback for the eBay sale.

i saw several ones earlier but i don't have links to them, i did find a couple more but for ford powerstroke diesels by going through my mail. my point is i call bs on the resellability of this product. and with the number of used units i have seen, and if none were working someone would already be complaining. i understand james has said no, but why would diablo be the only product on the market like this???

fyi here is another couple that went recently. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ARECO%3AUS%3A2
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...ARECO%3AUS%3A2

and this is last thing i am going to say on this as this i don't wish to hijack someone elses thread and am already guilty of this. moderators forgive me...
