From your description, it sounds like his HP Tuner could not "read" your car's ECM? I have never experienced a car where I wasn't able to read the tune. You can have errors when trying to open a file that was saved from a more recent version of HP Tuner, but that shouldn't be the case for reading it directly off the ECM. You should start by contacting the mail order company and ask them what program and version they used. Another quick check is to test your OBDII port by hooking up a hand held scanner (borrow one from auto parts store) and make sure the port is working. It could have a blown fuse.

Did he try reading the tune out of the PCM? That warning you're getting happens when you try and open a .hpt file using v2.22 that was created with v2.23. Happens all the time. I have never seen this happen when trying to open a .hpt file that was read out of the PCM using v2.22, even if the tune was done using v2.23. Only when trying to open a file.

Regardless, it just sounds like he needs the new v2.23.

Using EFILIve does not cause that unless they locked the tune. Regardless he should be able to read the PCM.

See if your "tuner" will email me both versions. The EFIlive version, and the HPtuners version. I'd like to see what's going on.

My email address is edcmat-l1@msn.com.

Guys I really appreciate the help. I would send the files, but the problem is I've got the PCM back in the car and I'm an hour away from the tuner.

Why? The tuner did not save the files to his laptop? He should be able to just attach them in an email.

I might still have the file in HP if you need it, definitely in EFI, but most likely in HP too.

I really appreciate you guys going out of the way to help. If you can "crack the code" can it then be sent to my tuner? I am going to try and drive down Dec. 20th and drop it off with him. I hope HPTuners is open during the holidays if he needs to contact them. How long does it usually take for them to respond to a request like this?

Sorry guys, we didnt save it here. (in HP)

It comes up as VCM support error, contact HP. (or very close to that) it opens in EFI live no prob, it's not locked and obviously does not have a custom OS.

Just dropped my car off at the tuner again. They just called and said they still cannot download the file. Still says "...outside the bounds of the array...". I'm really frustrated. Doug I left you a message perhaps you can give me or the tuner a call if you are online.
