Swapping PCM
I just wanna make sure I'm not missing something.
If I have my tune file stored in my PC, can I swap pcm's and just load my tune into my new PCM?
My reasoning is that I plan to take my EFI live interface and PCM and install it into my friends 82 with an LQ4.
I'm installing another PCM into my car and using a different efi live interface for tuning.
Make any sense?

It depends on the ECM's "operating sytstems" number---If they are exactly the same you can load the EXACT tune into another PCM--If the OS numbers are different you can still load it into another PCM but it has do be done manually--table by table--Takes hours
Are the engines both the same cubic inches ? If not more than likely they have different OS numbers--and you wouldn't want to load a 5.7 tune into a 6.0 ECM---Each engine has large differences in the VE table--timing table--open loop tables and several others--

Thank for the replies.
So far, step one had worked fine. Essentially, I just installed a different PCM in my car and did a full reflash. No issues.
Step 2 is installing the PCM and a base tune in the 82. I have a base tune for the engine/trans combo. I'm sure it'll run, but we'll likely put it on a dyno to fine tune it. Or just tune it at the track. I intend to disable VATS.
