Where to buy 411 PCM?
Just repinned my car '98 for a 411 PCM. My tuner does not use EFIlive and I'd like the correct VIN. Where is the best place to buy and what should I make sure is pre-programmed in there? Thanks

I swapped a 411 into my 5.7 Vortec truck and I absolutely love it. With EFILive you have NOS and boost options with their custom operating systems. I just typed my VIN into the tune (among other things), hit flash, and that was it. It always gives me an annoying VIN mismatch between the scan and tune tool, but you can just ignore that. I bought my EFILive years ago in a group buy from Justin at Blackbear Tuning. Hell, he's where I got the 411 from as well. Super helpful guy. The 411 itself can be found even in POS junkyard pickup trucks. They damn near fall off of trees. Try your local boneyard, the cheapest one preferably.

You can get rid of the mismatch error by rewriting the VIN number in the ecm.
The vin in the tune file doesn't actually change the ecms vin.
In V7.5 software look under the "flash" menu, or in the scan tool under "bidirectional" menu.

I was going from memory last night. Now that I'm in front of a PC I can give you better instructions.
1) Key to the "on" position.
2) In the V7.5 tuning tool go to Flash>PCM Security> select your PCM Controller from the drop down menu.
97-98 = LS1A
99+ = LS1B
3) Select the "Check Status" button.
4) Once the status check is complete, select the VIN/BCC tab.
5) Enter the new VIN and select the "Update VIN" button. (Hint use cap letters for the VIN)
Key off, close all the windows and you're done.
I can post instructions for using the scan tool if you want.
Hope this helps!
