This should be posted in the Technical section, I never look here but just happened to see it when I pulled up the Forum to look. I have worked on a number of IPC issues but this is unique since it involves just those two different inputs. Normally all the gauges go crazy or just one. Not at home now.

Pull your Dash DIC codes and see what it shows.

I think it might be the vehicle speed sensor vss.

Unlikely the tach would go crazy with a failed speed sensor---Sound like you may have a voltage or ground issue---How fresh is your battery ? Is your alternator charging ?
I would look here 1st----Also try disconnecting the battery over night to unload any glitches in your ECM/BCM that may be a result of a low or high voltage issue

That's what we initially thought as well. We took all the ground connection and connected each one individually to a solid post at the appropriate locations. Which r like 25 locations. Its a new battery and alternator was changed last year.

Well it ended up being the vss (vehicle speed sensor) . it took me 5 mins to change it. Cleard the codes and its been running perfect now.

The VSS has no input/interaction to the Tach. Anyone care to try and explain that one.

Can you delete those and then pull them again when the IPC acts up again? Not sure how old they are. Thanks.

Also, I don't see P1676 in my FSM.

Only B0516 is related to your issues. Here are the diagnostics. I just posted 2001 since you didn't tell us what year. I doubt it changes from the other years.

You may be having an issue with the IPC.
