Default What Fuel Pump For E85

Hey guys. Starting my 408 build for the winter and originally planned around 11.3:1 on pump gas but now thinking of going about 12.3:1 on E85. I plan to go with around 60 or 65lb injectors but I have no clue what fuel pump to go with? I was looking at this Lingenfelter pump texas speed has but isn't plug and play. Can someone please let me know the best pump to run for the money and also will I need anything else besides the bigger injectors and fuel pump?

Thanks,

Derek

Just make sure you have no rubber fuel lines anywhere as they are not ethanol compatible---All the lines should be Teflon lined braided or plain steel---( stainless is best )

this is one those depends who you ask kind of this.
how much power are you looking to make? and are you keeping it returnless or doing a return. for a N/A setup you can keep it simple and just do pump and injectors. I'm curious on how well the stock regular setup and contain a big pump though.

but personally I been running E85 on the stockish fuel system and stock pump for about 3yrs now. I have an external bosch 044 that activated when needed. paired with my stock intank pump and bigger injectors, it satisfies my fuel needs.

I'm looking at putting down about 550rwhp on motor and plan to keep it n/a. I'm just looking to do it the simplest and most cost effective way. Not wanting to spend 800 or 1000 on a fuel pump setup. Thanks for the input

Thanks. That's the pump I was looking at but was told it would be cutting it very close whether it would flow enough or not.

Yeah so with E85 and 550 rwhp (620 crank), worse case, I see it being too tight for comfort.....no room for margin

I have the Walbro 255. Use a Boost-a-Pump or MSD unit. I have the MSD unit on mine and I put down 620-630 all motor. No problems at all.

The Lingenfelter won't cut it as far as I understand.

Walbro 450 without the factory canister. The factory filter is paper and therefore not E85 compatible. You need a filter with stainless mesh. The best, high-flow filter with stainless mesh that I've found is Jegs with the upgraded stainless cartridge (purchased separately). Teflon is a PITA because of its high bend radius and relative difficulty putting fittings on. If you insist on running Teflon hose, the best place I've found is: http://www.anfittingsdirect.com/ptfe...fe_teflon.html

There are a lot of other companies claiming their hose is E85 compatible. Based on my research of materials, Nitrile hose is somewhat compatible, but not as compatible as fluoroelastomer, aka FKM, aka Viton. There are a lot of companies coming out with nice, flexible hose that regular AN fittings will fit on and has a solid, one-piece inner tube made of fluoroelastomer. Jegs offers this. They call it Pro Flo Extreme or 30R9 hose.

For inside the tank, be careful. There are only a couple of hoses that are submersible in fuel, much less E85.
There's the convoluted PTFE

and then the Gates submersible hose.

Something some people may not think about is compatibility with fittings. While anodized fittings are compatible, if they're swivel-type fittings, they may not have compatible O-rings. Make sure the O-ring material is mentioned and Viton or at least Nitrile.
