Default Tech 2 questions

Playing with my tech2 and I have some questions I hope somebody can help me with. Question 1 is according to the documentation you can only load the tis 2000 software on a computer running Windows Xp seems kind of dated says it will not work on Windows 7 is this a software update? Question 2 is the software for the the gm car already on the card or do you have to load it from the tis 2000 software? Question 3 what is the real purpose of the candi module? I know I'll have more but that's it for now. Thank you for your replies.

From TechConnect:

The Tech 2 scan tool can be used
for programming of non-CAN data
vehicles. A Controller Area Network
diagnostic interface (CANdi) module
is needed for the Tech 2 to read
CAN data

Yes, Tis2000 requires XP. The updated version (Tis2Web) is a subscription based service. If you have the correct version of Windows 7, you may be able to use XP mode..

With my knock off Tech II I cannot figure out how to look at the BCM and the ABS and traction control. How do you go about this do I need to download an update?

This should get you headed in the right direction. BCM is under BODY and ABS is under CHASSIS

That does help, and I kind of figured it out on my own this weekend. I am getting a no comm with the abs module and the TC and stabilitrac. I am going to first check the fuse then check the grounds then replace what needs to be replaced most likely.

It will run on Windows 7, also Windows 8.1, but it has to be 32 bit OS. Don't know if it works on Windows 10, but if it is 32 bit as well it might.

Question 2 is the software for the the gm car already on the card or do you have to load it from the tis 2000 software?

It comes with the software already on it and is ready on boot up if you bought a TECH 2 with GM software, otherwise you would need to buy a card with the GM software on it and swap it into the TECH 2.

Question 3 what is the real purpose of the candi module?

The CANDI module reads the CAN Network on cars that have it. Corvettes 2005 and newer use the CAN Network. Still use a OBDII connector but the Candi module is needed to read the data on the CAN Network.
