Default Stock C5 - best engine mods for $5k?

I have a stock 2001 With 6 speed manual. Looking for best engine / performance mods in the $5k range. In NorCal... So looking for shop to do the work too.

I don't want to change any body panels or the hood, so supercharger may be out.

Honestly living in Cali I would slap on a smog legal super charger and be done with it.

Would I have to change hoods to add the supercharger?

As long as you went with a centrifugal style no.

Yes; Unless someone changed the design.
My blower set up would not fit under my stock hood.

Drive to A&A Supercharger in Southern CA and have Andy install one of his centri units that fit under factory hood with room to spare. If your budget is $5k he may have a "newsed" unit for sale that might come closer to your budget. CARB approved, installed by the kit manufacturer and guaranteed to perform and put a smile on your face.

If you can't afford the supercharger kit, just do exhaust and nitrous.
