I just drove home and my coolant temp overheated and steering was very difficult to turn.....help!

Sounds like the main serpentine belt came off the pulleys. Inspect the belt drive system for damage, and pay close attention to the tensioners and idlers. I'd recommend new belts for both the main serpentine and the A/C at the very least.

Replace both drive belts (1 for serpentine system, 1 for A/C compressor). both are inexpensive and not hard to change.
