Default wide band power

What is a good source for power my wide band inside the car? It should be on only when the key is in the on position.

I used the ACC power wire under the passenger side kick panel where the BCM and Fuse box is. Orange in color IIRC.

If you only power up the wideband temporarily to check AFR's you can get the 12 volts anywhere-----I often just use the battery clips and connect the wideband either to the battery or the positive terminal on the alternator with any ground point directly on the engine

Don't you need to keep power to the wide band sensor while you are driving to avoid burning it up?

Yes but that's why if you hook the 12v lead directly to the battery or alternator---it will be powered up all the time-running or not
The 12 volt connection is used to both power up the unit itself---But also used to heat up the 02 sensor itself------You won't hurt a thing if it is powered up and NOT running as you are simply heating up the 02---
Now if you start your engine without the 12 volt connection the 02 will NOT heat up-----which yes can possibly foul the 02 rendering it useless

is there a reason you need to pull power from inside the cabin? I used a little "add a circuit" off of something in the fuse box by the battery that was linked to "key on". Then I just run the serial cable or analog wire or whatever into the cabin as needed.

I use the LM1 wideband------It comes with a cigarette lighter adapter----so you can get 12v all the time using a cig lighter adapter and not have to worry about going thru the cabin
