ECM "Not Ready" so I failed emission test
I need help in determining what this variable "Not Ready" is and how to modify it. I can't find anything in LS1 edit. What is happening in Texas they now just plug your computer into a scanner type device. It verifies that there are no codes and that all systems are functioning normally. Well in my case it says that my Cat, Heater, and Evaporator, are "not ready". So they can't test them and hence my failure. Does anyone know where in the ECM you can modify this value OR what causes this value to be "ready". The dealer thinks I need to just drive the car about 40 miles. Because this does occur after an ecm has been reset. Which in the first case was the issue because i reset the computer as I pulled up to the shop. And they knew I did because at that time all parameters read "not ready". After driving around 20 miles I'm down to 3 parameters still "not ready". I did a bunch of driving this weekend so hopefully it will be ready, but in case its not I thought I better get prepared to find out this is and if any one else has seen it.
thanks

You have to do quite a bit of driving to get them all to go to ready.
EFILive and Ease scan tools can check this.

Mike, some of the tests require multiple ignition cycles not just lots of drive time. Worse, some tests require multiple cold starts to complete. I think you can get by with up to two not ready indications (they occur normally and are different from outright failures), but that's worth what it cost you.

FYI,
after driving the car about 400 miles, I finally passed. The care still was "not ready" in two catagories but as was mention by topless you can have up to 2 areas not ready. It was 3 that was causing me to fail.
Still not sure why all areas are not ready but hopefully I will not have to worry about it, at least till next time. :D

underneath your dash is the connector. ITs the same place any of the tuners plug in to.

Where you made a mistake was to reset the computer before going to the smog station... it takes many many cold startups to operating temp to get those values back in the computer. I am glad it finally passed. :)

As an fyi, while playing with EASE, I also noticed it reports miles since last PCM reset.
The tests, and their status, are listed under the I/M section of EASE.
