Default Dual Zone A/C Climate Control...Question

Sorry if this is a dumb question but my last C5 didn't have dual zone climate control a/c...,my '04 does. Why does the a/c compressor come on all the time when climate control is on? It could be 20 degrees outside...i'll put the climate control to 75...& the a/c still comes on. Any way to prevent this?

Usually once I set mine with the AC comp off, then it will be off next time I start up. Also try setting the memory with the AC comp off. The DC control does seem to have a mind of its own sometimes -

Keep in mind that the AC will kick in to help dehumidify the air, even when heating.
