Default Front end squeak-bushings lubbed-help

I have a 99 FRC. My front end and possibly the rear has a bad squeak at low speeds when going over uneven surfaces. I have lubbed the sway bar bushings w/ dielectric grease (front and rear and yes I cleaned the bar and bushings before lubbing) and I still have the squeak. Last night I got the car up on ramps and laid on my back and pushed up on the skid bars and the noise was very evident comming from the front end. The sway bar bracket bolts were re-torqued to the proper specs. The squeeking is driving me crazy. Help!!! Is it o.k to use silicone spray and/or WD-40 on rubber suspension parts? Thanks in advance for your comments.

I would not use WD-40 on rubber suspension parts. My car has 60000 miles and when I put my new bushings my old ones were bad you may need to replace them.

I would use chassis lube or grease on the bushings.

I used what the forum said to use - dielectric grease which will not mess up the bushings, I'm told a regular petroleum based grease will deteoriate the bushings. Help.

I use Zep Silicone spray, found at home depot. Stuck the little red straw in all the rubber and soaked it. I used 1/2 a can on all the rubber I could find. I did this last October and stil have zero squeeks. good luck.

I used a silicone spray on Sunday, stopped for about a day, and its back again.

This weekend I plan to use grease and see if that helps. I hear you should clean the bushings first, and then apply grease...

I used sythetic grease from valvoline. It stopped the squeaks on the rear sway bar. I have also heard silicon di-electric grease works well.

Thanks for all your comments. Maybe I should have rephased the question. I know I lubbed the bushings correctly and w/ a good lube, but the squeak remained. Is there something else in the front end that can squeak when you push the front end up and down? How do you correct it. Thanks.

I used di-electric grease on mine and they squeeked. I cleaned them up and used Lithium based grease. The squeek was gone. Try Lithium based grease.

My bet is it is the fact you used di-electric grease. Try Lithium grease.

Thanks. I'll try lithium grease. It's diffinately the sway bar bushings. I dropped the sway bar and bushings last night and there is absolutely no
noise when I move the car up and down. I would have sworn that di-electric grease was mentioned as the proper lube previously on the forum. Thanks again. Any o9ther comments welcome.

I thought this was my 99 you were discussing. I have been through this and used the dielectric grease, It was $4.00 at O'Riley parts.

I pulled the rubber bushings and put about a green pea size amount of grease on each joint. Joints are very smooth now,, but I still have the squeek in the front and rear at slow speeds. I suspect the Adjustable ride control shocks at $550 each.. So I will have to live with the squeek unless someone knows how to make the shock not squeek.

Or does anyone have the GM part # for the 99 Adjustable factory shock. Good luck,, squeeking along,,, 99 Nassau Blue

Sounds like we're having the same problem. Please see my post just above your post. I think I have isolated the problem to the sway bar bushings. Another post above said the problem may be the di-electric grease which is what we both used. I'm going to try lithium grease tonight. Good luck and thanks for your comments.

I have the same problem but i have not isolated the sound yet.. i know its from the rear passenger wheel well but i have a feeling its some busings or the sway or something back there.. I use industrial grease in a can on my bikes and it lasts a good while but ill have to see if i can isolate the problem in the rear first.. i also have a 99...

my 98 with over 60k miles never squeeked anywhere...
