Default Warning Goodridge Brake Line Issue

Hello All,

I installed a set of these steel braided lines on my Vette and I’m not pleased with the fitting connection at the frame side.

Here is the issue;
When installing these lines. I noted that when you attach the flex line to the hard line finger tight, the hard line fitting bottoms out in the Goodridge flex line. I sent Goodridge an e-mail with photos and a detailed explanation (TWICE) and still have not received a response. Does anyone have a contact at Goodridge?

Unfortunately I can not post photos on the forum, but if someone can post them in this thread I would appreciate it.

I want to give Goodridge every benefit of the doubt but, brakes are critical and I’m not very pleased with the lack of response from Goodridge.

I've also heard they can also cause issues with the TPS's. But I know guys who've used them with no probs. But I am going to go with the Russel lines myself.

I've found that getting a response from some of these companies can be a futile task.

Good Luck

I had problems with the retaining clips and the banjo bolts... I just installed the original parts.

This is what happened to me

Odd, I used the Goodridge SS lines for over 30K miles on my 99 and now over 11K miles on my 03 Z. Oh well, stuff happens.

I agree with George8211. When I tried to torque the Goodridge brass bolts to specified torque they sheared off, so I used the original factory steel bolts. The Goodridge brass body clips did not have enough preload, so the body fitting rattled. Again, I used the original factory steel clips, and everything is fine.

From the mixed results of respondents on this thread, I see it is a crapshoot as to getting good serviceable brake lines from Goodridge.

Seem I rolled “Snake Eyes”.

It still torque’s me off that Goodridge will not address this issue with my brake lines.

Call and speak with someone direct. There are companies where the general E-Mail gets directed around and around to so many differenet people, people are on vacation, etc....Call and talk with someone then get their direct e-mail address and see if you get some assistance.

I attempted and install last week. Ran into the same problem with the banjo bolts sheering off when trying to torque to manufacture specs as noted on the installation instructions. I then switched to the stock bolts. I also had a problem with one line leaking at the connection to the hard line. I called them direct and sent the line in for repair or replacement. Have not seen anything yet, hope to see a new line next week.

I installed the Goodridge lines with banjo connections back in 2001 shortly after buying my car and ran them until Jan 2004 with no problems, no codes, no faults, no leaks and this included a full SCCA T1 race season.
In Jan 2004 I replaced them just because with the newer lines with the AN connections (which I like much better). Again, a full season and a half since then and no problems.

Other SS lines have problems with fault codes, but I can't remember reading about this issue with Goodridge lines.

For those considering Goodridge lines, I would suggest getting the newer ones with the AN vice banjo connections.
