Default How do I disable the passenger airbag on a 99 cpe?

I know you could turn of the passenger airbag halfway through the 2000 model year. I have a friend getting a 99 Cpe next week. How can he disable the passenger side airbag? Is it as easy as pulling a fuze or is it more involved?

Side note: For you Leos out there, is this legal?

I believe GM sells a kit.

I think I saw it on the Fitchner of Fred Beans site.

That's expensive, but at least they did it. There are a lot of dealers that won't even touch it (for liability reasons). I don't understand it, but when I was looking to get a kit installed for mine back in 2002, I called several local Chevy dealers, and none of them would do it. Maybe that's changed since then?? I dunno.

Do it yourself for $110 and it is a fool proof plug, the plug only fits that airbag and they are color coded.

I installed this "kit" in my '98 a few years ago. Took a couple of hours. Not hard to do.
