Default Chirping tires in an A4

I wanted to see if there is anyone else out there whos car gets sideways on the 1st to 2nd shift and a loud chirp on the 2nd to 3rd shift in a A4? I was at the track this weekend and have a couple of videos of my car chirping the tires on all shifts going down the track, it sounds like a M6 powershifting.

I have a FLP LvL 4 tranny with 2 spacers, which I thought was the medium (firm but fast shifts). My car shifts incrediblly hard for a A4 which is great for fun and coolness factor but may cost me a 10th at the track from all the spinning!

Anyone else have a A4 that shifts like a powershifted M6?

Chirp is an understatment with mine. I have a LPE H/C car and 1-2 shift puts the car completly sideways. I've got better tires but still can't put the power to the ground. To make it even worse I'm putting in a NXL direct port with an 80 shot. What's wrong with me?

I am not really taking about spinning the tires as much as chirping the tires at 90mph on the 2nd to 3rd shift. At the track this weekend, 10 A4 vettes (all with more than 400rwhp) and mine was the only one chirping the tires on shifts going down the track. My FLP tranny is vacumm actuated instead of electronic so I think the reason my car chirps is the line pressor is over 300 on WOT shifts. The fun factor of spinning drag radials at speed is awesome.

BTW: When do you plan to use the nitrous? 2nd gear? I thought about N2o but decided against it because of my high compression and 3800 stall.

I will have to give you a ride if you are ever in Dallas. The 1st to 2nd shift chirp in a stock vette compared to a highstalled H/C with a built tranny is quite different.

My car actually feels faster than it is. I ran a 11.6 on the stock tranny which felt slow compared to my 12.0's I run now because of the hard shifts.

I have a 3000 stall with a 3.42. I'm planning on 3200-6000 rpm range through all gears. If 1st is a problem with traction then I'll have to eliminate it. I don't have drag radials and have not taken it to the track yet with the H/C addition. The car dyno's at 420/365 wheels.

Save some money for ET Streets and built tranny. Most A4's spray at the start of second because of traction.

As for the tranny, most stock trannys crap out after H/C on sticky tires. Mine lasted about 3 weeks after H/C and another members lasted about 2 hours on BFG Drag Radials.

Good luck and let me know what you run!

A Predator to boost line pressure, a few bolt ons and 1-2 chirp is an understatement.

Stock A4 with the dreaded 2.73 rear end. Slow as a pig off the line, but once rolling builds the speed quickly, and on the 1-2 rear end can get a chirp and a bit squirrley. Once I change the rear to 3.42... I can be squirrley all the time

I've got the same trans as you do (FLP Level IV) and a Yank SY3500/3.42 combo and it'll chird in the 1-2 shift and the 2-3 shift if I'm all in it. It is pretty cool! I've got the CCW "Big Roller" package too, but not as much motor as you do.

Yep! Doesn't happen every time, but it has happened. Depends on a lot of things, such as temp of the street, temp of the tires, and maybe FLP turned up the line pressure when they installed the trans. Who knows, but it has.

Wow. This is one of those "I won't believe it 'till I see [hear] it" kind of deals. Is your sig up-to-date? If so, you're telling me that with bolt-ons on your car, at well over 100 MPH, your car will bark the tires going into OVERDRIVE? I mean this with all due respect, Rob. Really, I do. But I have to raise the flag. It's not that I don't believe you. I just don't believe it. I may be showing my ignorance about what a prepped A4 can do, so don't take me too seriously.

I think you mean 2nd to 3rd. There is no way to hear a chirp at 140 going wot from 3rd to 4th.

I will have to try that and see if I can get mine to chirp 3rd to 4th. I need a volunteer to sit by the highway as I fly by and see if it chirps. Even better bring a video camera!

I'm sorry! I corrected my post. I meant the 2-3 shift. As far as my earlier post, I'll raise the flag for you. That'd be one CRAZY car that could break loose at the 3-4 shift.
