885s are the fog replacement, but I believe they are not considered SilverStars.

When you do it you should also adjust your fog lights up somewhat. They come in set low from the factory. It is a simple twist of a torq #15.

The re-aiming is more affective than the bulb change.

Mitch:

I have never found Silver Star fog bulbs. But the real point here is that I did purchase Silver Star head light bulbs and turn signal bulbs and the MARGINAL improved lighting does not offset the cost.

Ecklers sells whiter brighter fog bulbs. Or just upgrade to the PIAA 1100 series $189.00 for upgrade. Look at LAPD for details. It's expensive because you have to replace the entire housing.

Hope this helps.

Silverstars are also a big waste of money, IMHO

Wattage is wattage, regardless who makes them

Silverstar 885 is an 55 watts bulb. Stock Fog light bulb is 35 watts. Go to Pepboys or any Auto store including WalMart has them.

you will not need to change anything. Just take out the old and out in the new. I have been running the 885s for over a year without an issue.

You will notice one big difference between stock and the 885s. The stock fogs have a cap over the top of them to displace the light to the left and right. The 885s do not have that cap so you get more light in front of you.

I disagree - I replaced my stock headlamps with Sylvania Silverstars and there was a noticeable difference - much whiter light that stock. Saw same impact on wife's 98 4runner. Not bad for about $35/vehicle.

You'll see a square hole on each side of the Fog lamp. Use a flashlight to see the torq screw, I believe it's a #15.

you will have to use a real #15 torq not the interchangeable ones that you put on the end of a screw driver because the hole is too small.

I bought a #15 and I use it all over the car so it is worth the few bucks to have it....

For about 1/10th that price you can get the cheap "Xenon" type bulbs. They lasy just as long too. They are the same color and wattage. You will never know the difference. Paying $35 for bulbs is insane.

I'd be willing to be you have not lined up 2 cars - one w/silverstars and one w/the 'xenon' cheap bulbs - there is a visible difference. Those cheap xenon imitations look quite cheesy, except maybe on a honda civic w/neon, big fat wing, etc...

Any amount of money.

I had them in my wife's BMW 323i with the real Xenon lamps. The fog's on the car were yellow compared to the blue Xenons. I changed the fogs to the 6000k lamps and they looked like the 25 dollar "silverstars" night and day difference from stock.

The blub's color is what you are looking for. 4k 5k 6k and 6.5k

But hey's its your money, waste it if you like.
