As long as the oring has not pulled away from any of the gasket frame, and as long as none of the oring is torn/damaged itself, you are good. I have reused the gasket every time I've had a pan off. If you do replace it, you will need to knock the rivet locators out, then reuse them on the new gasket frame.

Ok,, I have learned the hard way... I always use a new gasket when the job is more than a 5 minute repair. Guess I got too old to do the job twice. Your choice,, if you can change it easily use it,, but if you have to jack,, pull ,, move,,, etc.. I would go new every time. Just my $.02. 99 Nassau Blue

Apparently, you found a dealer that believes GM list prices are way too low. $55.94 for the 12558760 pan gasket when GM list is $33.84 gmpartsdirect is $29.24 shipped for the 12558760.

I wouldn't bother with the 12562020 lower pan gasket as it can be easily replaced if it happens to leak.

What's the plug you are talking about?

As runamuck noted in your previous post, the bolts/studs are not pressed into the rods like many other engines, so rod distortion is not a problem. Use the ARP bolts.

thanks i ordered arp pro bolts. not the expensive ones. Also, the plug is the oil level sending unit plug that plugs into the pan.

You your noise could be your Vette revolting against your forum name: TT_VERT. Maybe it thinks that stands for an Audi TT. or it could be Twin Turbo, in which case your Vette should have a big grin.

maybe its mad that TT is for my old TT mustang it it feels left out. Or maybe its the fact that it shares the garage w/ a cobra kit car and its jealous?? lol

The cobra was first, so the baby would have to go..
