E85 ethanol what effect on C5?
We are getting a few new ethanol refineries here in CO so the number of gas stations selling E85 will be increasing shortly. E85 is the blend of 85% ethanol and 15% gas, right now all gas is at least 10% ethanol in CO.
I know that vehicles must be 'flex fuel' to use E85. But what is needed to support E85 on a C5? The lower price (.40 per gallon) and much higher octane (about 100) are tempting.
Any ideas/info out there?
Thanks

You cannot use E85 in a C5.
check out www.e85fuel.com or .org forget which.
You need to have a flex fuel vehicle which uses 2 different calibrations deppending on the fuel you are running.
It is true it has alot more octane but also less energy and requires more fuel by volume to make the same power.
I wish they would have more e85 stations around here. DCX has alot of FF vehicles but only 2 stations in Michigan.
