Any still consider Supra challenger !!!
Hi all, I like all sports cars, C5 best vette ever especially Z06, but do you guys consider supra challenge although they don’t ship anymore to the states
since 93 still handling, breaking, & performance still can be compared to the C5 now, and with 2k modifications you can go mid 12's,
by the way we didn’t get the Z06 here, just have some questions what modifications makes the C5 fast as the Z06?

 Welcome to the Forum. As far as me.......I respect the Supra and it's performance characterists. They are easy to mod and are quite quick. Personally I prefer the looks and the big torque of the Vette. ;)

The Supra is a car that demands respect. It is shame that you can't say that for most of the owners... :p: Welcome to the Forum!
I would like to know how C&D ran a 13.1 in a stock Supras though. The stock ones that I seen run were mid-high 13's when driven by *good* drivers...
BTW, I only have around $1500 in mods... see sig.

DanielALee that Supra tested over 6yrs ago, 13.1 in that time was too good, still fast, still supra easier to modify, I had in my supra modifications for only 600 USD made 12.7 at 114 , my car is 94
plus supra never been recalled ;)
i did 11.5 with my car

Supra Road Course Performance??
First let me say that the Supra is one of my favorite cars from the 90's. It's good looking on the outside and its interior styling seems to have aged well. They are obviously fast as well.
Having never driven one, I wonder how they handle? I am personally less interested in straight line performance than race track performance. Would a 450 - 500 hp Supra be a contender against a stock ZO6 on the racetrack, or even a against a Z51 equipped Coupe?

Re: Supra Road Course Performance?? (Roy Romano)
let me tell Roy Romano i'm not saying this because i have supra, but really some magazines tested the supra get it .99g's , but over 450hp with the trac off espicailly when the bigger turbo kicks slips sometimes, yet its faster then any *** GT car stock, even faster then skyline EVO6 1/4 mile

Re: Any still consider Supra challenger !!! (Oman_Supra)
Well I have a C4 and don't considered stock or slightly modified Supra's (downpipe, no cat, blow off valve, etc.) a threat because my friend's stock C4 auto has raced these two Supras. A stock '97 6 speed, and a modified auto. He barely gets ahead but he wins. Now we are afraid of boost control computers, turbo upgrades and such because when the auto Supra turned his computer on and dialed his boost to 18psi he walked away. Your cars are still a threat but that is because I hate turbos that are fixed up :D.

Re: Any still consider Supra challenger !!! (Raysur)
I have many friends w/ Supras. I like the car. But, they don't make it anymore. Rumors for the new 2003 Supra are a V-8 engine. No turbos. The 93-98 Supra is a great engineered vehicle w/ a built motor from the factory. People pushing 1000 hp on a stock motor. Now that's impressive. I've raced many Supras. I've lost & won while racing them. On the track, an automatic Supra is hard to beat cause they will build boost on the line. A standard Supra has a major disadvantage @ the track.
On the highway it's all Supra. They have allot of top end. They start to pull even harder after 120 mph.

Re: Any still consider Supra challenger !!! (Oman_Supra)
Definitely, I have a lot of respect for Supras. There's a lot of potential in a purpose-built low compression engine that's strong. Locally we have a group of Supra guys who come out to dyno days, last I saw one pulled over 650 rwhp and plenty of torque, and they come out to the track. If they can drive the car and control the gears well enough to keep the revs up so the turbos stay spooled, they're formidable opponents on the track. Add a track with nice straightways, and say "Bye!" :D I wish Toyota still imported them. One of those Supra guys does hang out on this forum occasionally, so they show up at local events. It's cool!

Definitely got to respect a Supra on the road.
The nasty thing is that you can modify those suckers with a little investment and press over 400hp easy.
Since someone brought up the subject of Supras...
Does anyone know what happens to the SupraForums.com and also SpeedHawaii.com? They seemed to disappear off the face of the Inet around the same time?

Re: Any still consider Supra challenger !!! (NoMercy)
Before I got my C5 I had a couple Porsche 928(S & S4)'s and the Supra was considered very fast cars. the problem with the 928's quad overhead cam, 32 valvel engine is you can't mod it very ease.
The mods on my C5 have produced an additional 40 horse and some LT headers with put me even with the new stock Z06 @ 405 hp.

Re: Any still consider Supra challenger !!! (Oman_Supra)
As I can recall, GM's Syclone (a truck) was ripping off 0-60 in 4.4 seconds back before Supras were anywhere close in speed. It's funny how sometimes a burst of ingenuity can shock the sportscar world and then disappear.
Another thing to remember is that a C5 coupe can reach 178 MPH. This is supercar territory that has not really been challenged (today or yesterday) by anything less than two and a half times the price of a C5 (in stock form).
