ARE RUNFLATS REQUIRED?
IT IS TIME TO REPLACE THE TIRES ON MY 2000 COUPE.
I HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT I SHOULD STAY WITH RUNFLATS BECAUSE THE SUSPENSION (Z51) IS SETUP FOR RUNFLATS NOT NON-RUNFLATS. FURTHER, IF I CHANGE TO NON-RUNFLATS THEY SAY THAT THE HANDLING WILL BE WORSE DUE TO THE THINNER SIDE WALL IN A NON-RUNFLAT.
COMMENTS, SUGGESTIONS FROM THOSE THAT HAVE CHANGED TO NON-RUNFLATS.
THANKS, MY TIRES ARE THIN AS PEELED UNIONS; THEREFORE, NEW TIRES ARE NEEDED SOON! :smash:

Re: ARE RUNFLATS REQUIRED? (2000^C5)
Someone gave you bad advice.. Go for the NON run flats. It will feel like you shed 500 pounds off the car. The suspension is fine. There is a slight difference in the alignment spec on the Z06 to take advantage of the softer sidewall.. You can dial in that difference or just leave it be.
Every aspect of handling is improved. One of the best mods to the C5 out there..

If you want the peace-of-mind of run flats, buy a set of Firestone Firehawks. I did and it's like a "night and day" difference! Not only are they less expensive, they are great in wet driving situations and they are wearing MUCH better than the GY's. Love my "Stones! :yesnod:
