which Syn oil?? the Wally World brand??

Wal-Mart oil in the U.S. is currently made in a Shreveport blending plant that used to be a separate company. It was bought by QS, which was bought by Pennzoil, which was bought by Shell. Warren Performance Products also might have contracts, either for blending or more likely for packaging. Shell is closing the Shreveport blending plant and will probably shift production to excess Equilon capacity. Thus Wal-Mart might become like the old Havoline.

Canadian Wal-Mart (Tech 2000) may be SafetyKleen (who probably just packages), or PetroCanada. Some production may have been moved to China.

Wal-Mart controls all product testing, so unlike many private brands (i.e. Advance Auto) it's kind of difficult to tell exact sources.

a link to this with phone numbers etc.

and its NOT in China

Check over on Bobistheoilguy.com to see how it fares in used oil analysis. That will tell you quickly.

WalMart is all about cutting costs. Not something I'm interested in oil for my vette. What might test okay today, could be entirely different a few months from now. I'd be real careful about anything with the WalMart label on it. It's all about cheap.

Don't try to save a few bucks by buying their synthetic, it's not going to be anywhere near the quality of a true synthetic oil such as Amsoil or Redline.

If you really are looking to save money on oil changes, you should be using a good quality synthetic and extending your intervals well beyond 3000 miles. You can safely go three to four times longer (9-12k) and your engine won't suffer (used oil analysis has proven this time and time again)

that is a factor, as WalMart/Sams Club switches suppliers on the slightest whim. What they have on the shelf today, may not be exactly the same item tomorrow.

There are some things that are just worth spending the money on.....although the Amsoil /Redline has been proven OK I just stick with the Mobil 1...no problems no sense in switching IMO although I have tried the Ext Performance Mobil 1 and it seems to be lasting longer....dunno if it is worth the extra $$$ or not...probably just go back the the stuff I was using.

Why would anyone put Walmart synthetic oil in a $50,000 Corvette? IMO, spend your $$$ on a known brand. I buy Havoline oil for my 55 Pickup there but, that's a known brand.

I am not about to use any Wal-Mart brand anything in my $53,000 Z06. I use AMSOIL European Synthetic 5w40 in all my cars. I get both oil and filters shipped from AMSOIL delivered right to my door..

Why anyone would buy cheap oil for a 60k vette is beyond me. Buy what GM calls for and no less. I cannot think of anyone who ever had an engine failure either changing oil too often or using the highest quality oil possible. If you are going to shop Walmart, buy the Mobile 1 brand in their 5qt container and a couple of quarts to to the job. Then buy at least an AC Oil Filter or the Mobile1 brand which is also at Walmart

I have not been a forum member to long, but when I read what is spent on mods and then the same person ask about cheap oil change just makes me wonder. You spent big for a Great Car, take care of it like the baby you love. IMO.

No offence, but I am sure if you looked you could find a company that would recap Goodyear runflats for your vette....Why would you even care who makes oil for Wallmart???

I buy from Wal Mart. I get my Mobil one there. Wal Mart provides products and service dictated by the public. They deliver cheap. That is their business model. As for evil empire, you can find plenty of companies that fit that description everywhere. From Enron to PG&E

As often as most guys on the forum change their oil they could use anything they want and not hurt their engine. Not from the oil anyway.

I use castrol, let the flames begin. If the Wallmart brand metts the GM recommendation for the car it should be fine.

I buy the Wal-Mart brand, 20w-50 in 5 quart jugs ....
for my Jeep, since it will leak out a quart every 40 minutes of driving. I bet my oil filter is pretty dang clean too since oil doesn't stay in there long enough to get dirty, lol.

Ford and GM come to mind. More and more Korean, and Chinese parts in vehicles every year. Yes, even the Vette and Mustang have Asian content outside of electronics. Just the way it is.
