I've been searching the archives but can't get a firm answer.

Is the AC Delco 78-7YR battery in my newly acquired '99 the original battery? In addition to this model number, the label says AC Delco Professional, 770 CCA.

I've been reading that the upgraded batteries are 78P-7YR.

It's not leaking but seems slightly swelled. Not sure if I should replace it or leave it.

Can someone please confirm whether this battery was original or not?

Is it the "Professional" series battery? When I got my 99, it had the original battery in it. Came out one morning and the car was dead! I replaced it with a 78-7YR Professional AC Delco. Never had a problem with it since!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is professional.

Sounds like the original must have been replaced.
