Default oil leaking from front shock absorber

Heard a thumping sound from the front suspension area, see oil has leaked from the shock absorber down onto the lower control arm. I didn't know the shocks had oil in them. What's going on here?
Thanks.

What he said. Also, always replace in pairs only. Never one at a time. Hope you're not offended at me saying that but it's amazing (to me at least) at the number of folks out there who would replace one only.

Depending on what suspension you have, it might not be oil, it might be magnetorheological fluid!

Is there a contact person at Fred Beans? I have some questions before I buy.

Thanks.
