Where do I get the airbag disable kit for the passenger side, and how do you install it? I'd like to take my little kids out for a cruise in the Vette.

There is no "kit" This is a feature that comes with the car. You can disable the passenger side air bag. Just open the glove compartment, you'll see a switch which you can turn with your key, and this will turn the passenger airbag off. :seeya

There IS a kit for early C5's that did not have the disable switch. It's from GM. You can buy it from a GM dealer, or through Ken Fichtner (a GM dealer who does business with a lot of forum members). It includes a switch, a light, all the necessary wiring, and a NEW SEAT BELT.. Apparently, the belt needs to be changed because the stock belts have a break-away feature not desired when the airbag is disabled.

I'm glad this was clarified, I was beginning to think that I've missed something in my 97 all this time. But there really is no switch there, I checked.

Yes you can and should add the air bag shut-off switch to 99's and earlier vettes. There are pictures of installation at http://www.97vette.com Ken's is the best place to order one. You might also want to get a form from the government saying they approve of you putting switch in. It is a fomality in case something would ever happen. There are previous posts on this address. A slight correction to kenrobb's post...you should add the kit to any Corvette built from December 1999 and earlier...the switch became standard in January 2000.
