Looking to increase horsepower

Looking to increase horsepower
I have a 2001 C5 Convertible. I would like to boost the hp into the 400 range. I see these chips advertising 30-40 hp increases...does anyone have any experience w' these? Any other suggestions as to the cheapest way to increase hp?

First of all Cheapest and Increased HP do not belong in the same sentence. If you want 400 hp at the wheels you will need air intake, headers, Heads & Cam or just a supercharger. You will need about 6 big ones min. THEIR ARE NO MAGIC CHIPS!

Lets start over Welcome to the Forum !! Sorry about smart azz remarks. You need to provide more info.
1. where are you located (helps to recommend at shop)
2. Auto or manual trans. and list of any mods already done
3. What will you be using the car for (Daily driver, weekend thrills, any drag racing, any auto cross racing )
4.What is your budget ?
5. What would be your long term goal for HP? ( This is important so you do'nt buy the same parts over & over just alittle better each time.)

thanks RDRUSH...
1) I'm in Saint John NB (Eastern Canada)...but have no problem travelling to Maine or NH to get work done (car is from NH).
2) Manual Trans...no mods done yet (just bought car 2 mos ago)
3) I will be driving the car on a daily basis in the summer. Won't be doing any racing etc.
4) Willing to put in 3-4k.
5) Don't care to have much more than 400-450...not much need given my use for the car.
I appreciate all of your help!

Grab a little TR224 cam on a 112, a pair of PRC heads, headers, air intake like black wing, and you'll have a great daily driver with 400 RWHP at a cheap price. Installation and a tune you'd be in at about
$4k
$4k

Bump for Mr.Gofast
Its true tho.. everything on here is allready at an advanced level.
I too would like to add horsepower to my car, but I dont know where to start.
a sticky on the subject might be cool. But I would settle for some feedback on some of the first "MOST WORTHWHILE" mods you guys did, and what you noticed HP-wise.
anyhow.. carry on!
/ also doesnt know the difference between HP at the flywheel or at the rear tires. my best guess is that HP is lost in the Drivetrain

Well you came to the right place to get some info, looks in c5 parts and buy parts used with low miles if you want some deals. A mild heads/cam and bolt ons will get you there. I would reccomend n20 if you are a noobie but h/c will get you there and your car will sound sinister.

I have the same 400 HP envy. My 2003 coupe is stock until this week. It is in the shop getting Patriot 243 ported heads installed and a Thunder Racing CheatR Cam and a few other items. Which hopefully will get me 400 ++.
