LS1 to LS2 Conversion
With a FAST intake, 90 mm LS2 TB, 2800 rpm Vigilante converter, LG long tube headers and X pipe, B&B Bullet exhaust, and MT Drag Radials I was able to get my C5 Triple Black Convertible down to a 12.073 et with a 3:15 gear. Went to 3:73s expecting to at least get into the 11s and the car slowed down. Next time I was out 12.60 was the best I could do. Checked the compression in my LS1 and it ranged from 120-145 in each cylinder.
After consulting with Kerry Jamison at Jamison's Corvette in Charleston, SC I decided to go with a new LS2 crate engine. Of course I had to have Jamison's install a healthier cam before engine installation.
The swap was accomplished in just a few days and I couldn't be happier with the outcome.
More to come.

A few modifications to the wiring harness, ( needs to be longer) otherwise it drops right in.

The block has the knock sensors on the side - not the top so that's why the harness has to be extended.

Yes, with the early LS2 (2005 model)the reluctor on the crank was the same as the LS1, but with the later LS2 the reluctor would have to be swapped.
Some say that you can get both LS2s ( different part numbers) in crate from, but I haven't been able to confirm this. I would be surprised if GM continued to offer both in a complete crate engine package. Normally GM would drop the early and only offer current production.
We drill and tap the block so we can use the LS1 knock sensors in the LS2 location. You can buy an extension harness or you can seperate the wires and they will be long enough to reach both side of the block.
The cam sensor is at the front so you will have to buy and extension harness for this.

Actually I am more interested in WHY you went slower? Are you saying the motor was losing compression?

LS2 Install
Just wanted to say that Kerry at Jamison's Custom Corvette did the install of the SDPC LS2 402 in my 97 and did his usual great job. I would also recommend SDPC to anyone considering purchashing a LS2 402 not only do they have a great price but they really stand behind the product.
