Default Anything I need to know before I install my new Optima battery?

Anything I need to know before I install my new Optima battery?
I bought P/N 34/78 so my top mounting post connectors will clear the side posts.
Does anybody have 34/78 in their C5? If so, do I need to use one of the adapters that you can get with the Optimas?
Does this battery fit right in the place of the old battery?

Thanks in advance,

Did you get the curved hold-down puck from Optima to replace the GM puck?

I tried to grind mine to fit before I found out that Optima will give you a free puck that is an exact fit for the Optima in your Corvette.

No, I didn't get the "Pucker Adapter".
In the "Optima Users Guide" it says that the Puck Adapter is required for most installations where the side terminals are used.
My 2004 Corvette uses the Top Posts.

I'm going by memory here but I believe the 34/78 should fit perfectly (in your 04); make sure when you drop it in, to slide it all the way toward the firewall (to engage the edge of the Optima with the battery tray lip). Use a flashlight and make sure that you position the Optima correctly; otherwise you will have issues securing it to the battery tray.

Then the factory holddown clamp should fit right on at the front along with the factory mounting bolt.

You shouldn't need anything other than the Optima battery (no adapters) and the factory holddown piece/mounting bolt.

Again, I'm basing this on threads that I came across when I did my research a while back; I would have gone with the 34/78 if my AutoZone had one in stock (and I have an 04 too) but my 75-35 is working fine

Using the factory hold down dn't over torque it... I've had 2 optimas start seeping gell at the bottom. Not sure if they were defects of if I over-tightened the hold down and put stress on the case.

Default Optima Red Top Installation

I installed a Red Top 34/78 in my '99 FRC. All newer OPTIMAs come with the puck adapters. Slide the battery back towards the firewall. use provided hold down puck. No need to over tighten hold down bolt just snug enough.

Default optima

when you install the battery, get another battery and clip the jumper leads to your alternator battery lug, and the neg. to the alternator bracket. That way, all the car will see is a slight rise or a slight drop in battery volts when you take the battery out.
This also saves all of your settings, and there's no interruption of power to important things like your radio especially if you activated the theft-lok and the pcm doesn't see a voltage cycle either.
That's what I did, and voila!!! no problemos

You might want to check for corrosion under the tray, alot of the delco batteries have leaked and got the frame and terminals to corrode
