Jeez, I thought after working on cars for nearly 40 years I wouldn't have to ask how to do something that is normally such a simple (2 screws) operation, but after removing the two visible screws on my rear license plate, I don't know how to proceed any further! I need to take the seller's plate off my 97 and put my plate on the car, but I'll be darned if I can see how to accomplish this. The shop manual has so far not been any help.

You have to remove the black plastic license plate surround. If you look closely at the top and bottom edges you will see there are some tabs that have to be pushed back. It just snaps in. Something thin works well.

I had the same problem when I got mine home.

Don't feel bad on this one, it happened to me a few months ago! One just doesn't think about it until you have to change the plate.
