Default Z06 Exhaust w/ X-pipe, quiet!

The Z06 exhuast with the x- pipe is quieter than the stock C5 exhaust?
Why is that?

I don't have the answer, but I agree. I first put cutouts on my stock mufflers. It sounded good, but I didn't like all the popping on deceleration. On the advice of many here I put on an X pipe. It stopped most of the popping. Now when I close the cutouts (only on longer trips) the sound is very much quieter than stock. Even my wife and kids say it is much quieter than it used to be and almost sounds like a stock 4 cylinder.

Install long tubes, remove the cats, and then come back.

I found mine to be a mild increase in sound, but you can't hear it from the cabin. If you go longtubes, you will be glad you have the Ti system.

Thats what I have Dynatech Lt's and Z06 Ti's with a cross pipe. Sounds really nice when you get on it and not a lot of popping and gurgling.

yeah i put tpis (sp?) long tubes on with no cats and no x pipe and this thing if freaking loud any time you sort of get into it, it gets realy loud, almost too loud like a freaking big truck with no mufflers. Im putting an x pipe in to quiet it down and get rid of the gurgle from the pressure. BTW i have corsa's out back

I'm on stock manifolds and aftermarket catback and it does sound almost like a stock 4 cylinder at idle. LT's and X pipe are going in this week!

I agree, when I first put the Bassani X-Pipe on the stock Z Ti, the sound of the exhaust went from a deep sound with popping on decel, to a euro almost ferrari sound with no popping ever! My father really likes the sound, but not me. Once the Kooks 1-7/8" Headers and 3" X-Pipe went on, that was taken care of right away.
