does anybody know how many milliamps should a c5 use on my meter when the car is at rest?

20-25ma [.020-.025a] is about average.no higher than 50ma[.050a]

im getting 200 ma.. any thoughts on what may be grabbing the additional 150 ma's???

hey DPD.. i think you may have your conversion wrong.. isnt
200 ma = .020 Amps?..

and with that is my 200 milliamps a good number for the amount of draw on my battery?.. or should it be 20 milliamps which is .002 Amps?

could be anything.start by pulling fuses and watching your meter.are you letting the car go to sleep before assuming you have a draw? if you are letting the car go to sleep,hop inside the car,close the door,let it die down and pull fuses 1 at a time.as soon as you see the meter drop,the fuse you pulled is the circuit that's pulling down the battery.

Hi, I just went throught this today. 2000 FRC bought 2 months ago, 110 to 120MA draw at rest. Fuse #6, park, tail lamps, dropped 20MA when removed. Fuse #27 HVAC controls, dropped another 40MA when removed. No other fuses dropped. with #6 & #27 out, idle was 50MA, is this acceptable?

Any ideas on what to look for with #6 & #27?

make sure you wait 20 minutes for your cars computer to go into sleep mode... then get your reading.. i got my reading at 25 milli amps (.025 amps).. your reading is still too high... get the car in sleep mode

I've got an electronics degree, BSEE, and 200ma = 0.2 amps ;
20ma = .02a ( to convert from ma to amps move the decimal point THREE places to the left; to go from a to ma move the decimal point THREE places to the right).

At rest, aproximately 7-10 min after you shut the car off, you should be drawing aprox 20 to 25 ma. If you are really drawing 200 ma (0.2a ) you've got something running that shouldn't be running.

YEP!!

The car MUST be at rest with everything OFF. Doors shut, trunk shut, hood light disconnected, radar detectors disconnected etc....

Once everything is off the BCM will start to shut down. You usually will set it step down in THREE steps (like..8 amps,-- 2.3 amps---- .020 amps which takes about 2-5 min to get into the sleep mode)

Good info, I'm pretty sure I had it in sleep mode but will confirm this weekend when I get back to it.
