Default Price for a new starter and labor on a C5

I understand a DIY mechanic cant change a starter without a lift because the WHOLE exhaust system needs to be dropped.? So, what is a dealer going to charge me to install a starter on a 98.?
Thx in advance

fwiw, the hpipe will be removed in about 10 minutes to facilitate removal of the starter, the time will be spent replacing some if not all of the spent manifold studs

pm valvegod for a GM starter, I just replace one in my '99

I'd say 3-400 is typical for the starter replacement

It can be done by a DIY mechanic. I did mine on jack stands. just replied to your earlier post with some tips. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I was told that a dealer would want $800 for parts and labor. The starter is between $185 and $250, probably more at dealer.

I did it myself for $200 with back exhaust gaskets.

I also did mine on ramps and jackstands, just make sure you spray all exaust stud/bolts with WD40 or PB blaster and let it soak for a while and get new gaskets...good luck
