P0410 & P1416 Error Codes
Hello,
I have a stock 2000 coupe with 28,XXX miles that I have owned for 9 months (my first Vette). Two weeks ago error code P0410 appeared and this week P1416 showed up (my first error codes).
I understand both codes are related to the secondary air injector system. I have an extended warranty on the coupe. Should I take it to a dealer for service or what?

P1416 is the passenger side AIR check valve which happens to be buried behind the intake manifold. For some reason that one gets stuck and throws a code. I think its because of the location, any moisture doesn't have a chance to burn off like the driver's one which is right above the drivers exhaust manifold/header.
I changed mine once after alot of swearing and then the problem came back up. So what I did this time, was unhook the AIR hose, blast some PB Blaster in there, used compressed air and force it through. Let it sit a few hours, and then turned on the car. It looked like the car was burning oil out the exhaust (PB Blaster burning off) but that solved the problem and its been 10K miles. YMMV.

The dealer discovered a bad vacuum hose under the battery frame that apparently had been damaged by a leaking Delco battery that I had to replace last year a week after I bought my car. Needless to say, I did not purchase another Delco.
